Cebu Comic Con 2011 Sketch Giveaway

UPDATE: Comments Closed as of August 27, 2011

Hey it’s that time of year again when all the nerds gear up and get ready to assemble in a blaze of geeky glory.  Cebu Comic Con 2011 is upon us, and we can’t wait to do our part to make it a fun event all around.

As part of the 2nd Cebu Comic Convention, Pencil Flex will be giving you guys a chance to bring home some original artwork by John Amor, Kathryn Layno, and Miko Punsalan.  Simply post a comment below; include the name of one character you want illustrated, and your name.

Each of the Pencil Flex artists will randomly choose three characters from the comments section, and the lucky people who posted those comments get to take the sketch home.  That’s nine people, for those of you keeping count.

You’ll be able to receive your artwork at the 2nd Cebu Comics Convention this coming October 1st, at the UP Cebu Campus.

Floating Lights

I had to do this scene for my last entry in our Disney theme. I had initially planned for this to be in monochrome but it just didn’t work so I added a couple rough overlays and stuff  to bring out the look I wanted to go for. I had a lot of fun working on it.:)

Kidagakash Nedakh

Miko here with my last post for the week. I had already decided then that before this week’s theme ends, I will definitely do a sketch of Kida. And since technically its still Sunday on the other side of the globe, I’m still not too late. The challenging part was her face. Since she wasn’t your normal Disney princess, getting her face right was important because I didn’t want her to look like some cute white girl with dark skin. I wanted her to look exotic and beautiful. So here she is :D . Stay tuned for the upcoming week’s theme here on Pencil Flex.

Esmeralda

And to top off my submissions for Disney week, my favorite Disney lady…

“Try to keep your eyes on the card, sir.”

Four-Armed Battle

Herro, Miko here with my submission for today. Kat suggested Stitch to be my next flex when we saw a picture of him in a taxi yesterday. And I’ve always had this idea of four-armed characters from different universes battling it out. And this is what I came up with. Done in SAI over Google+ hangout with the Pencil Flex peeps.

Scar

Kat here. I decided draw a villain this time. Scar is my favorite Lion King character. I drew nothing but Lion King when I was like in the 3rd or 4th grade so I kind of wanted to go back to it. and see if I still got the cops (definitely more of an improvement lol). Lots of green for the jealous, evil genius that he is.

Jafar

Was in the mood to draw a really villainous character, and it gave me a chance to play with some colors as well.  My take on Jafar is nowhere near as exaggerated as the original Disney rendition, but I’m pretty happy with how this turned out.

Not So Little Mermaid

Haiz! Here’s my take on the Little Mermaid, with Jessica Rabbit in mind, heheh. Basically I just used the same style I did for Felicia from Darkstalkers, but with cleaner lines. Its been some time since I posted something with bewbehs, so I guess its about time to post one seeing as how there’s no shortage of those to choose from in this week’s theme. Done in SAI.

Mulan

Kat here. Another request by my husband. I cannot draw Mulan being seductive or sensual for some reason. I decided to go with a more somber image of her just holding her father’s helmet and thinking about the consequences of her actions. Had fun with the soft tones and textures. I wanted to sort of mimic Asian watercolor styles.

Jane

I loved the Tarzan movie.  But I sincerely thought it could use a little bit of this.

Traditional pencils with Paint Tool Sai renders; Google Plus hangout with the Pencil Flex assholes.
